WATERSPORTS AT PELIGONI

Meet the beachies

Large group of Peligoni watersports staff in white Peligoni t-shirts and blue shorts, seated and standing together beneath "Mikey's Shack" surfboard signage and a fringed cabana roof, flanked by lifejackets, sunglasses and an activities noticeboard.
Our beachies are at the heart of Peligoni. It makes sense – The Club was founded on a love for life on the water. So, if you’re joining us this summer, they’re the people who’ll help you get your sea legs, teach you the best foiling techniques, or simply kit you out for your own adventures. We spoke to them about what watersports look like at Peli, and which one they’d pick if they had to narrow it down to just one.

"I love the foiling here. It's a super relaxing feeling of flying above the water and it's not something you'll find in any other sport. The water's warm, it's crystal clear and the wind's always on."

Matt, beachie

"My favourite's definitely got to be sailing. We've got so many different types of boats – you can cruise out on a cat with your mate, or if you want a bit more adrenaline, go trapezing. We’ve got some great boats down here and it’s all very sociable."

Freedom to discover what you love

The beauty of watersports at Peligoni is that you don’t need to know what your thing is before you arrive – you can try everything, follow your curiosity, and see where it takes you. You could start the week having never tried wingfoiling before and leave with a newfound passion, or be a tentative sailor who’s confident barreling out alone by the end of the holiday.

It’s all about that feeling; that moment when it just clicks and you find the watersport for you. Maybe it’s the sense of calm that comes from paddling towards the horizon as the sun’s coming up, maybe it’s the surreal feeling of flying above the water on a foil board, or maybe it’s the thrill of catching the wind as you sail across the bay.

“I love wakeboarding and wakesurfing because I used to do them both when I was younger, and I’ve now been doing them for many years. We have these fabulous big Axis boats and a Malibu boat – the best tools for the job. So it’s awesome.”

“I grew up as a sailor, so I love windsurfing because it’s just that bit more intense and more adrenalin-fuelling. It’s that bit more fun!”

Top-quality equipment

We’ve upgraded our fleet this year, and the new kit is already getting a great response from our guests. We’ve got new wings and foil boards from Armstrong and new windsurfing sails and boards from Severne, as well as upgraded boats from Malibu, MasterCraft and Axis. Each one is designed to create a different wave to suit every sport and skill level. It all ties back to our sailing-club roots. We want guests to experience the very best of watersports and, hopefully, fall in love with them just as we have.

Designed for every guest

Everyone arrives with a slightly different level of experience and confidence – and that’s the point. We meet you where you are. For our younger guests, age-tailored sessions are baked into the programme to give them the safest, and most enjoyable introduction to watersports possible. Group sessions are ideal for improvers, with the option of one-to-one tuition for those who fancy more personalised coaching. And if you’re a seasoned pro, there’s the freedom to simply grab your equipment and go!

“I absolutely love paddle boarding. I mean, how can you not? It's literally like a floating tanning salon on the water, especially in Greece where it's warm. And here, you can sit out in the water, you can go all the way upwind and then you can float down with your mates. I just think it's personally the best watersport out there.”
