Reflections on a Peligoni summer

Another Peligoni season comes to an end. And while we’re already working away on 2027 planning, we decided to take a moment for a little 2026 reflection. Have a read of some of the team’s favourite moments from the season, from why Patrick is team PACE to why Jamie reckons June is hard to beat…

PACE

"This was my fifth season at Peligoni. It’s always lovely coming back, seeing everyone and the place again, and kicking it off with PACE. We cycle every week at Peligoni, but I think the PACE weeks are the best. We have really confident people who can cycle the black routes, no problem, and we have some more nervous people who push through and achieve something really amazing. It’s tough – really tough in places – but once you’ve finished, you’re like: 'Yes, I smashed that.'

This year we cycled with Sir Chris Hoy, Becky North, James Lowsley-Williams, Manon Lloyd, and Jonny Brownlee. You can really see how much it means to the guests and how excited they are to be there, cycling in this beautiful setting with these amazing athletes – I love that."

May half term

"May is probably my favourite time of year at Peligoni! It's the month The Club finally opens again, the local restaurants start welcoming guests, the whole team is on the ground, and everyone is bursting with excitement for another Greek summer.

Half term is the first big family week of the season, and I love seeing The Club come to life with families again. There's laughter and noise everywhere – exactly how it should be! TARKA is back to keep the kids entertained, and for so many families, it's their first proper sunny holiday of the year, which makes it feel even more exciting. Everyone is ready to get away, spend time together, and enjoy some much-needed sunshine after a long winter."

The beach features a white-roofed waterfront restaurant with outdoor seating and thatched umbrellas. Behind the beach, a dramatic rocky hillside rises up, covered with Mediterranean scrub vegetation and exposed limestone outcrops. The coastal setting combines natural rugged terrain with a relaxed beachfront dining establishment.

June

"I’d say that June at Peligoni is pretty hard to beat. There's something special about being on the precipice of summer, with the excitement of having the whole season still ahead of you. The weather is perfect, and if you can sneak away for a moment, it’s the perfect time to head out for a sail.

We had three wonderful chefs out this June. It’s so exciting to see them experience The Club for the first time and immerse themselves with the team, not to mention the perk of sampling their incredible menus. Anyone who knows Peligoni knows how special the long-table feasts are (long evenings of chatting, wining, and dining under the stars), and the variety that comes with multiple guest chefs is hard to beat. Food lovers – this month’s definitely for you."

July & August

"It might sound crazy as they’re definitely some of the busiest weeks for the team, but July and August are my favourite months as they capture so much of what Peligoni is about: family holidays.

There’s something about seeing so many familiar faces; we have families who’ve been coming for years, and you just know when they arrive that they’ve been looking forward to it for weeks (if not months). Then there are the first-timers, and it’s so fun to see them fall in love with The Club – particularly when they leave with promises of coming back next year.

The energy is insane: the boats are on the water, the Ringos are out, TARKA is full, and the restaurants are buzzing. Our days are long, but there’s such a sense of satisfaction that comes when you see everyone out there having the best time."

September

"September has always been a favourite month of mine. I’ve always thought of it as an extension of the summer, but with less heat and fewer crowds. At Peligoni in particular, the days are still long enough to enjoy, but you now get to see the beautiful contrast between day and dusk sooner. It’s one of the things I love most about being in Zakynthos – the stars and moon in the north of the Island are spectacular.

September is one of our busiest months for weddings, and it’s absolutely stunning to see the contrast in lighting from day to night, especially watching the sun change colours on the coastal path. There’s something genuinely magical about that. You still have the heat of summer, just all a bit toned down. The island is starting to slow down again, and you really get a sense of true Greek living during this part of the season."

GATHER

"I came to GATHER on holiday this year and I’m already planning my 2027 return. Being there as a guest really proved that this is the kind of week you can’t fully understand until you’ve experienced it. It’s so sociable; wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, there’s someone around who you’ll have met the previous day in a yoga class or the previous evening after a few wines, and they’re always up for a chat (and probably another drink).

Days consisted of wandering down to The Club, lingering over breakfast, then setting up camp on the decks, chilling for a few hours before the music started and the sea-view dancefloor started to fill. Evenings were for feasts and live entertainment: special mention to the incredible meals from The Barbary and The Palomar and headline set from Toploader. For sure, a week that’s going to take a while to forget!"

October half term

"I swapped my usual desk for The Club in October, and it’s the perfect way to extend the summer. You still get that lovely high-season feeling and all the energy that comes with that, but there’s an undeniable feeling of autumn in the air, which, in Greece, is something very special.

I actually love that the days are a little shorter. The light in October is incredible – honestly, in my opinion The Club never looks more beautiful. There's something so nice about everyone making the most of the daylight and filling their days with activities, and the Halloween party keeps the seasonal magic alive.

Spending your day off with an early yoga class followed by a massage, a long lunch and a little siesta in the sun is pretty hard to beat. And then there's the sea! The Ionian is my weakness, and by October it's at its warmest, so I always try to squeeze in as many dips as possible."
