An unbelievable restoration project with an breathtaking view! High on the hillside, restored by an eccentric designer, the interior spaces of this house are fantastic. This house is completely self-sustaining, a true solar powered eco-home.On approaching, the imposing traditional grey walls don’t let on what a special place this is. The driveway is bumpy, the shrubbery is quite overgrown. Opening the front door feels as if a switch has just been flicked inside your head, and an instantaneous smile slaps itself on your face! The interiors are quirky and convey the lively and intriguing life of the owner – mixing an eclectic blend of artworks, collectables, object d’art, from original Ralph Lauren & Armani publicity shots, to African wall-hangings, to a chandelier made from Ouzo bottles - it doesn’t get more eccentric than this! Simply beautiful.
In the main house is the kitchen/dining area and the intriguing living room which opens out onto the covered terrace with seating for ten. There are two spacious double bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms. Up a short pathway is the infinity edged swimming pool which commands the most spectacular views down towards the sea. In the guesthouse, next to the swimming pool, are two further double en-suite bedrooms.
As mentioned, this house is a self-sustaining eco-home and as such does need to be looked after with some care so as not to disrupt its balance – you don’t get quite all the mod-cons, ie: no dishwasher, as the system/batteries cannot always support high level electric consumption. This house is suitable for a group of friends who will appreciate the structure and reasoning behind this villa. It truly is the perfect spot for peaceful and private holiday!
The Captains House really is the place to come and get away from normal life.
